Homemade Almond Milk Recipe
Makes 2 servings (2 cups)Things You Need To Prepare
Ingredients
- 1 cup of raw almonds, ideally organic almond
- Sugar, honey , maple syrup or agave syrup as sweetener (optional)
- 2 cups of water, and some more for soaking

Equipments
- Some bowls
- A strainer and fine-mesh nut bag or cheese cloth
- A measuring cup
- A food processor or a blender
Instructions
- Soak the raw almonds over night or about 48 hours. Put the almonds into a bowl then fill them by water about an inch. The almonds will plump when they soak up enough water. If your soak the almonds in a long time (up to 48 hours), your almond milk will be creamier

- Strain then rinse the almonds: Drain them from the water and wash them properly under plumbing. By now when you pinch the almonds, they should feel a little squishy.

- Place the water and almonds together in a blender (or food processor). 1 cup of almond will most suitable with 2 cups of water.
- Run the blender at the highest level in about 2 mins: Impulse your blender once or twice to breakup the almonds, then run the blender in 2 mins. At this point, the almonds are required to be broken into tiny and water is opaque and white. If you use food processor, the process should be in 4 mins, pause the blend process to clean the sides halfway through

- Strain: Place the strainer over a measuring cup and line it with a nut bag or cheese cloth. Pour the mixture of almonds and water just made into the strainer.

- Press out the almonds milk from the mixture. Gather the nut bag and twist it. Press and squeeze to extract all almond milk possible. Get about 2 cups of creamy almond milk.

- Sweeten: Taste the milk you just made, and if you prefer sweet taste, add sweeteners as liking.
- Refrigerate: Almond milk should be stored in a sealed box in the refrigerator and can be stored for 2 days.

Notes
How to use the leftover part after extracting almond milk : This leftover part can even be put into oat meal, smoothie recipes or muffin. Or simply spread it out to dry on a baking pad and bake it. Dried almond powder can be stored in the refrigerator for few months, and you can use it in baked food recipes.
Enjoy your homemade almond milk!
